I fully agree, I just find it suspect is all and that a larger scale look into the circumstances surrounding these cases should be looked at maybe through an IA division not directly related to the department.

As a US-level attorney, that isn't that many I would think (I also have the predisposition to think a lot of officers are rather corrupt though).

What's interesting is this quote:

In the region he covers, there has been 14 shooting incidents by border agents in the last nine years, four in which the suspect was killed, Sutton said.

Each time, he said, the agent wasn't prosecuted, because they had reasonable explanations for using deadly force.

If it was an ordinary citizen i'd understand more... because you need to set the precedent that shooting illegals isnt within the scope of the law...

but as a Border Patrolman... f that. He needs a pat on the back.

Well, what it's starting to look like (to me) is that they shot the alien, and then tried to cover up evidence at the scene. That makes me VERY uncomfortable, because if police power is not frequently checked, it has a tendancy to expand rapidly...

Also, the police were unable to establish that they knew he was a drug runner before they shot him. That's a big point of interest for me...

1. If you're going to post a news article don't post one from a far right site. That story conveniently leaves out 90% of the facts.

2. The police were shooting at a fleeing suspect, they had no idea what his citizenship was. So if you're saying that the police can shoot illegal immigrants that do this but not American citizens who do the same thing, what you're really saying is that police can shoot people who look Mexican in the hopes that they turn out to be illegal.
