Default Getting a beater, Tips please? :)

I'm getting my friend's 02 Accord Coupe EX V6 for $7K as my daily driver. The car is at 95-96K miles.

He had the timing belts done, new headlamps, new front brakes, etc.

Knowing that these cars are notorious for the Auto tranny to go bad, what signs/symptoms I should look for? He said that the tranny is still good. So I don't know what to do because I'm afraid that the new one will be weaker than the current one.

Any tip is greatly appreciated. Thanks

umm... check for rough shifting from 1-2, and 2-3

ask if he ever replaced the tranny fluid.

never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever powerflush the tranny, or use generic tranny fluid.... HONDA ATF ONLY.

Thanks Jani,

What do you mean powerflush? Like flushing it out and replace with new tranny, using the machine?

So if his tranny is indeed still good, then i shouldn't force to get it changed then? I'm afraid that it may break after the extended warranty is over

Update: Just checked with him, he's been changing Tranny Oil every 15-20K miles.
