It was opened in the 60s so it got the "modern" look everyone was hot for in those days. Not much around here in the old colonial style though.

Still has power running to it. I even turned lights off as I passed through the building and in some rooms I turned them on to get a shot. It was really weird knowing it was closed for 12 years now and the power is still on and the bulbs actually work.

Nice photos.
It's nice the place hasn't been trashed, so it maintains some of the "mystery." Here on campus there is an old chemistry building that was abandoned during the 1989 SF earthquake. Basically people dropped everything and left. It's still standing because the school can't demolish it because of the chemicals inside, but they won't let anyone in to clean it because it's not structurally sound. Unfortunately, the inside has been totally trashed by the local frats and high schoolers, so the inside is covered with grafitti, and it totally ruins the experience of breaking in. Anyways, I quit rambling now

I bet it's creepy wandering around in an old mental hospital. There was an urban explorer site i saw a while back where the guy would go to old closed places like that and take pics. He went to old assylums and stuff.
we have a similar place in utica.... if you google image "utica state hospital" you can see some pics of it.... my Grandma used to work there back in the day as an orderly. she wouldnt ever say much about it.... but there are lots of stories. anyway they want to tear it down or convert it to something usefull but there is always something to get in the way. as far as i know, now it just holds some records (storage area) and nobody works there day to day. its been closed for a long time...

Our little lovely by Henry Hobs Richardson sits in disrepair. It's really a massive set of buildings, but the trees make it appear to be quaint. I've been in it. It's not really that creepy to me, but I don't hold very romanticized views of what went on inside. Certainly these days we have found ways to make money off of the mentally ill!
