Nissan sucks much less than that overpriced kraut mobile
On a scale of sucky-ness 1-10, with Honda being a perfect 10 for complete lack of suckage and Kia being a 1 total ownage of all things sucky I would have to say that BMW (Broke My Wallet) is a 4 for pretty sucky while the the Infiniti is an 8 for much less likely to suck.
Opinions may vary.....
You go get your crappy M3 and I'll smile at you in my rear view and wave at you when I pass the auto repair center.

I haven't got the m3 yet. hence this thread. however, I won't even consider nissan/infinity. its just not my bag.
EDIT:
besides, the e46's arn't the e36's. my understanding is that the e36 was the bmw equivalent to the eg civics. not the most advacnced, but good for its time.
seems people with e36 don't complain too much about them.
It's not that it's such a maintainance queen, it's the cost of it.
Brakes/rotors alone cost you $300 for regular parts. Struts/shocks cost you another 300-400 when it comes to replacing.
If you do get one, be sure to check out the electrical. It's hard to diagnose once you have electrical problems.
