Whats your opinion of the E46 328i/328Ci, Rick? They're quite a bit cheaper than the 330's.

I see it this way, if you have disposable income for an older sport coupe and also own a comfortable daily driver (with less maintenance), then I'd say go for the M3.

If this will be your only car, I'd rethink my priorities and get a nice daily driver that is comfortable and less maintenance intensive. Fortunate for me, my company will be giving me a brand new Ford 500 sedan as my company car, thus I'll have a daily driver...that's why I'm buying an S2000 next year in addition to my 1999 E36 h:

But is the M3 worth the cost of maintenance? Absolutely.

Without reading this thread....

You and just about everyone else on this board would like an E36 M3 (myself included) if they don't already have one or something better.

I'm reluctant to leave my honda roots, but there's something about BAVARIAN motor sports that makes me wanna give them a shot.

some higher milage (80k-120k+) m3s have been around on autotrader here going in the range of $13k-$18k. I understand BMW's can be maintenince queens, but the idea that I can get one and do very little to it in terms of mods is what draws me in (maybe a little suspension work, thats about it).

as a driver, I feel I'd be more at home in a bmw. however, as a (somewhat) intelligent consumer, I'm not sure if thats a good idea, or if I should stick with what I got.

actual bmw owners, your opinions are highly valued.

I joined this thread a bit late, didn't read the replies, but:

I've seen them go for less than $13k. I would look for a '95+. Maintenance
can be pricey, but if you can do most of the things yourself, it's not that bad.

If you modded your Civic, you WILL mod the M. It's in your blood

Those are rare, but that would also be my first choice.

I agree, especially if you're daily driving it.

quite a bit less peppy when compared to the 330i. It's not just the HP difference, there is a fair amount of torque improvement that enhances the driving experience.
