Default Anyone have mechanic shop experience?

I know a lot of us have the DIY experience when it comes to working under the hood. But how many of you guys have worked for a shop at one point or another. I'm not positive how much experience you need to apply for a place like Firestone or Goodyear but I think I would want to do something like that as a summer job next year. Did they require a certain kind of experience?

i worked at a retail auto chain. not in the garage though. i do know they were always hiring kids from that were currently in auto technical school. doing oil changes, tires, etc. if they really seemed like they knew what there were doing the shop manager would let them occasional do more technical things like starters and alternators.

Fixing other people's headaches just isn't my thing. I enjoy performance, and preventive maintenance on certain cars. Working on Domestic Economical cars and Junkers just isn't appealing. I say go for it, if it appeals to you. Just be prepared to do lots of bitch work. I'm sure they'd hire you without any certifications or experience.
