the wiki page proves that the limit of .9repeating = 1.

but the fact that one number can equal another number is ludicrous. :loco:

Because 1/1 is equal to 9/9.... 10/10, 20/20.

the notation for a repeating decimal IS a limit

if i said i had .3333... repeating would you be ok calling that 1/3?

There wouldn't be a written fraction for it considering it goes on forever h: Imagine all the erasing you would have to do :eek3:

any repeating decimal can be written in fraction form
thus .999... in fraction form is 9/9 or 1
there is a simple way to produce the fraction form of a repeating decimal, it isnt really hard at all, but it confuses the shit out of people at first

i cant beleive im arguing about math on the interent, i think i just raised to a new level of nerdom

1/3 cannot be written as an exact decimal.... .33333repeating is an Approximation.

proofs lose validity when you approximate.

limit of .9999 = 1, but .9999 != 1
