proof 1:

1/3=.3333333...

multpily both sides by 3

1/3 * 3 = .333333... * 3
3/3 = .999999999...
1 = .9999999...

proof 2:

this ones more technical but still easy

let x = .999999....
then 10*x = 9.99999999...
subtract x from 10x
we get
10x - x = 9.999999... - .999999...
so
9x = 9
divide by 9
x=1

its just a basic concept of infinity, it goes forever, so there is no remainder on .999...
i thought it was a lie first time i heard it

x=.9999... infinitely repeating
then 10x = 9.999... infinitely repeating

there is no extra nine on the first one, since its infinite its infinite, there is no infinity plus one or minus one, it just is infinite or not
subtract the two, you get 9x=9
so x=1

if it was an absolute decimal then it would be incorrect, but its not, its infinite, so it works just fine

yes the fraction one is not a great proof, but it still works ok
the algebra one is a perfectly fine proof though, no flaws in it
