you need a Upconverting DVD Player.

Sony and Samsung have upconverting players around 100 bucks.

best upconverting player ive seen is the OPPO DV971 (200 bucks)

There is a deal for 42" Panasonic Plasma for $1299 during BF. I was wondering if I should wait until after Christmas to get a HDTV or just get on this deal..

"Throw some D's on that bissh".

Some HD tv's have worse than normal non-HD channels. I can't remember but I think it has to do with the way the HD tv's read the signal. Newer one's shouldn't have this problem though.

Thats because it is taking a 480i signal at 640x480 interlaced and trying to stretch it onto a screen that is far larger in size than a standard definition 4:3 TV, and that is either 720p (1280x720) or 1080i (1920x108).

Liken it to trying to make a 640x480 wallpaper your desktop background on your fancy new 1680x1050 20'1" widescreen.

Looks like poop.
