i know around here at least, you can get HD channels through a attena for free you don't even need cable
you never need cable to get hd. local channels are always free if your tv has a built-in tuner. all you need is a regular antenna. if your tv has no hd-tuner then you need an hd cable box. LT said his parents pay $5 for 8 hd channels... those are probably local channels.

how do i upconvert? do they sell DVD players/DVD's that have been upconverted already? i want my dvd's clarity just like or close to the HD programming on tv.
