I LOVE my HD.....

I usually hang out in the HD station area, then venture off to non-HD entertainment, like comedy central, SPEEDTV, G4, VH1, BET, etc....

you never need cable to get hd. local channels are always free if your tv has a built-in tuner. all you need is a regular antenna. if your tv has no hd-tuner then you need an hd cable box. LT said his parents pay $5 for 8 hd channels... those are probably local channels.

DVDs are recorded in 480 lines per frame

HDTVs are 720 or 1080.

upconvert means to convert 480 up to 720 or 1080.

all HDTVs scale lower resolutions to HDTV resolutions.... but Upconverting DVD players usually have a better scaler built in compared to the one in the TV.
