DVD shrink....You can rip most dvd's with that onto your backup hd....if that doesn't work, some companies have dvd's that won't let you copy, you can use dvd fab decrypter and you can rip the files on your comp that way

I've used the Ahead DVD ripper to convert dvds to divx. Works well, but just takes long. I think you need to rip the dvd to your hard drive first though. I used DVD shrink for that.

DVD Shrink. Just turn off the burning feature and it'll rip it (and resize it if you want) to the hard drive.

DVD Decrypter for just ripping everything to the hdd.

I prefer DVD Shrink.

Yea but there are a few movies by certain companies, like Paramount and Sony I believe, that won't let DVD Shrink even read the DVD.

Possibly, I've ripped dozens from various makers with DVD Shrink without problem.

I only had a problem with one, and DVD Decrypter was able to rip it just fine. I then used DVD Shrink to shrink it and burn it to a dvd.

Just copy the dvd onto your hdd. Do a 1:1 copy. Create the direcotry and copy the movie over. Tho some movies have good copy protection so you may need a hacked firmware for your drive or a program that sits in the background to do this.

AnyDVD usually helps.

I have an NEC 3520A drive but the Mad Dog MD-16XDVD9A2 firmware. check out www.cdfreaks.com for all the reasons why.

For dvd backup, I've always been able to get passed security with the use of AnyDVD, DVD Shrink, DVD decryptor, and DVDfab. I've probably burned around 300-400 dvds over the past 2 or 3 years.

I'm using the NEC 3500AG drive with Liggy's (from cdfreaks) updated fw. cdfreaks is awesome!
