For dvd backup, I've always been able to get passed security with the use of AnyDVD, DVD Shrink, DVD decryptor, and DVDfab. I've probably burned around 300-400 dvds over the past 2 or 3 years.
I'm using the NEC 3500AG drive with Liggy's (from cdfreaks) updated fw. cdfreaks is awesome!
