I'm not saying that I've never seen them blow up...and I wasn't talking about just motors. Mitsu is notorious for tranny/drivetrain problems, and the Evos have had a knack for blowing up at low mileage. I just don't see an S4 as being less reliable than an Evo.

as long as its turbo and NOT FWD i'll be a happy guy. BUT honda's SH-AWD is pretty cool but is still a heavily FWD based system.

neither of them represent the pinnacle of reliable engineering but saying an evo is worse than an S4 seems far-fetched. im not an evo sackrider but i think they're unfairly associated with past mitsu problems.

I'm not a sackrider of any brand. I agree that they probably still have the stigma associated with the eclipses, but the problems havent exactly been taken care of with the Evo. It's better, yes, but it's not as reliable as it should be for the price it commands. Maybe I've just seen too many horror stories involving Evos to be convinced otherwise.

you're just a male sackrider hfawk:

i still dont see that many horror stories about evos, besides trannies? but i assume that's related to owners dumping their clutches and doing awd burnouts

You wish whore hfawk:

I've heard about numerous people blowing motors at autox events, with a 100% bone stock car. :dunno:

I agree with the clutch/tranny problem..it's mainly because people are idiots.

Well yes, having more power is going to cause more parts to break. Having more moving parts (AWD) is going to cause more parts to break. Also, for people who drag race, in order for them to click off good times...they have to launch the piss out of it. Obviously that is going to cause lots of stress on parts. However, in engineering, there's this stress analysis called cycles to failure. Honda motors rev pretty high, and go through more cycles than others. You'd be surprised, high rpm actually probably causes more stress than power. The slightest vibrations at high rpm can cause lots of stress on an engine.

lol i wasnt even thinking of tires...i was mainly thinking "predominantly fwd on 90% of the cars they make"

but yes, shitty tires is a good part of the secret
