first of it's a levy... i know i posted tax before but i didnt think this would turn into a "only a socialist county would agree on paying more taxes" thing. a levy mean it is directly paid to the "Canadian Private Copying Collective" and not a gouvernmental agency.

The money is then distribued to the individuals based on radio play and sales. so what is more popular gets more money then what isint...

the distrbution of the money also goes like this:

* To Eligible Authors 66.0%
* To Eligible Performers 18.9%
* To Eligible Makers 15.1%

so by those numbers the record label and such only gets 15.1% of the levy collected.

Also the "expense as % of revenue" is a respectible 5.5% so it's not like the money actually goes to the "Canadian Private Copying Collective" (the association collecting the levy).

I dont really see any problem with this system and yes if they decide that they need to ajust the levy i will agree to pay it. I dont see whats the big deal... in fact, that means that dowloading music and burning a CD for my priveta use is actually legal here. thats why we dont get sued over here.

And they are many other countries that have this system, including most of the G7 countries, and most of the EU.

Only a capitalist country would let big corporations sue 16 year old cause they downloaded songs of internet
