Actually, The fires were something like 5 miles from my house..., but there are a million houses and potential fire-breaks in the way.

There was damage dood.
Were you in Syracuse then? We got 37 inches at my house We never lost power though. That icestorm in northern NY killed a ton of people though.

The fire in Scripps and by Miramar was REAL close to my house.

I dont think it is the government responsibility to give people money to rebuild their house if they were too cheap to buy insurance. What about the people that bought insurance...it's nonsense to buy insurance then.

It's like I spend 2000$ on insurance each year and my car gets messed up in a natural disaster and my insurance pays for it...comparint it to a person with no insurance who gets compensated for his car by the government. Makes sense?

sorry I had to rant h:

is the compensation the same? i would think that if the government give compensation it would be minimal and the insurance co picks up the rest :dunno:

Well they are saying they are giving up to 150,000 to homeowners who don't have insurance, but my old man house is not even worth that much and he has been paying insurance for 20 + years. If they start giving out the money, it wouldn't have made sense for him to buy insurance.
