i dont believe in diets...when your normal eating habits return, so will the weight.

eating smarter and more sensibly + cardio + weights = success

Do you want to a) loose some weight then gain it right back? or b) do you want to be a healthy person?

a) crash diet and work your ass off for two weeks, get burned out, go right back to your previous shape

b) establish healthy, reasonable diet and exercise habits you will be able to stick with on a year round basis.
-start reading nutrition labels on food
-don't kill yourself every workout (you will burn out and stop working out)
-find healthy foods you enjoy eating. don't like grapefruit? try oranges or pineapple. don't like cauliflour? try brocoli or spinach
-treat yourself. been eating healthy all week? grab a beer and pizza.

cliffs notes: find a reasonable diet and excercise program that won't burn you out in two weeks.

I'm not saying not to push yourself. Whoop your own ass every now and then. Just don't do the new years resolution workout plan and kill yourself for two weeks and then stop...lol

I'm 24 and I try to keep my heart rate above 155 on the bike... It usually peaks somewhere around 177 on my normal warmup.

Hop off the bike, hit the weights or machines, hop back on the bike, stretch, go home.

As for diet, if weight loss is your goal, try to avoid carbs except before workouts. No fast food or junk. Keep proportions smaller and don't eat after dinner. I recently started replacing meals with a small Jamba Juice, but I'm not trying to loose weight, just sorta be healthier.
