You know what is touching though...the real real badasses. You sit them down and tell them that there are people in the program that cares about them and want to make sure they head towards the right direction...you will see tears. And they will try their hardest to hold it back h:
Then they leave the room and you laugh "Man did you see that pansy? He ain't going to get any females like that."

this is true. i hate how they try to act so hard and tough in front of others but they are really not like that when they are by themselves. it's just a show they put on..probably to hide something..but yeah..it sucks when kids aren't putting in an effort to learn and i hate having to stop teaching to address those kids

Acting tough is needed around here. If you let your guard down, your chances of getting picked on goes up. And yea, theres always a reason that they behave that way.

And behavior problems is the main thing I deal with all freaking day long.

i don't know how bad oakland is..the bad parts of long beach are pretty horrible and i try to stay away from those schools as much as i can. i subbed at one school in a really bad part of l.b. and when i walked in the class, the teacher had in big bold print. WARNING. LOTS OF BEHAVIOR PROBLEMS IN THIS CLASS. thats the worst thing to see as a sub. i shouldn't have taken the warning lightly. i thought i did a pretty good job until i found out they stole my wallet from my purse and took all my money. never found out who did it..

Ouch. The school I work at isnt horrible. It was 100x worse 8-9 years ago when I was in middle school. But it isnt a great school by any means. The neighhood is full of crime. And I spotted like 3 drug dealers in a 3 block radius. :ugh:
