Default Denver, CO...

How do fellow CO HAN members like Denver? I am currently searching for future places to live in within a year or 2. Denver came up for some reason because I've always wanted to live in the mountains

How do you like it out there? Nitelife? Sports events Nuggets and Broncos fun atmosphere? Don't know what else to ask but I'd really like to head out there for a weekend or 2

I love it, but I'm more into snowboarding and the summer sports like mountain biking and hiking. There is SO much outdoors stuff to do here, it's nuts. The winters can be pretty harsh, but the summer months are unbeatable. :goodjob:

I'm a Boulder native and I love Colorado more than any of the thousands of places I've been (BC coming in at a close second). Denver is a great sports town, great night life, plenty of outdoor activities nearby, generally good weather, lots of sun. I would go out in Denver more often if it weren't for the whole designated driver issue... weekday nightlife is about on-par with Boulder (college town), on the weekends, LoDo (lower-downtown denver) is a bit more wild.

:edit: yes, denver is technically not in the mountains... its on the front range, which is where the great plains meet the rocky mountains. A half hour drive will put you "in the mountains"

I've lived in Boulder, live in Superior currently (between Denver & Boulder), and I'm moving to Downtown Denver in June. I love it here. Nuggets games are awesome and pretty cheap, the Rockies suck but it's still fun to go to the games because tickets are cheap and nothing beats drinking beer in the sun, Broncos and Avalanche games are hardcore but tickets are expensive and hard to come by. The crowds are generally pretty good at all the games. Nightlife is good in both Boulder and Denver. Denver is a little more hoppin', but Boulder is more laid back which I like.

I'm actually not a skiier or snowboarder anymore, but I go up to the mountains a lot for paintball, hiking, & camping during the summer, and do some snowed-in mountain hot-tubbing during the winter. We get like 300 days of sunshine each year, so it's generally nice outside, but often quite chilly during fall/winter and even spring. It's been gorgeous the last couple of days, around 70 degrees, but I think we've probably got a couple of snowfalls left.

Denver is a very casual city. Jeans and a polo shirt are acceptable everywhere, even most of the nicer restaurants. People are real laid back and generally helpful. If your car ever gets stuck in the snow, you'll have people coming out of the woodwork to help you push it out.

yeah, another thing: if you're not from around here, the weather will drive you bonkers. Its usually very nice, but it changes quickly and can be very unusual. The only month of the year with no recorded snowfall (historical, not like every year) is July. On occation it gets as warm as high 70's/low 80's in the middle of January. We've had school out for snow in September (trees all fell on power lines because they still had leaves and were too heavy), I recall one day when I was a kid I went for a hike up NCAR in my shorts and a t-shirt (about 80 out), by the time I finished my hour-long walk, it had started raining, within 2 hours the rain had turned to snow and the next day school was out. It can also snow like a foot and be bone dry the next day because its so warm and sunny. :loco:
