It's not that hard to maintain a turbo if you do it properly at the right times and install it correctly.

It is for Johnny ricer who keeps it at 4000RPM all day to get a quick spool and craps the thrust bearing out on the turbo or cracks manifolds, fouls injectors and blows headgaksets because they think these things are bulletproof.

Just do your homework, get a good tune, quality shit, tuning time and sufficient fuel/spark/cooling and life is good.

Not if you suck it up. :exnbp: It's possible to ride 8-9 months out of the year, not every day in some of the colder months, but a sweatshirt and leathers and you're fine.

Yeah but I'm sure your gf is easier to ride than an R1.

My brother has an 03 R6 that I've ridden a little. If you just putt around town, it's ok. When it comes to the bike's true potential, you'll want to take it to the track.

Going by yourself isn't always such a bad thing. When starting off, you'll have less pressure to get in over your head. Also, riding solo can be pretty relaxing in a "go anywhere you want" kind of way.

If you choose the bike, going used is good. Unless you don't mind paying more for insurance and maintenance, going small is also a good idea.

Don't forget to factor in the cost of gear too. Search hard enough and you can find some pretty nasty shit online that could have been prevented or lessened if the rider wore protective clothing.

Anyway, it'll probably be easier for you to make your decision after you take the class. Have fun either way.

Compared to other bikes, yeah. That's kind of the point in getting it for a learner bike. Compared to cars, though, and it's still mighty quick.
