Default welding

If you weld 2 stainless steel parts together, will the weld also be stainless?

I don't think it would be... because most welds are going to be from a wirefeed right? And that wire isn't stainless steel... I need to take a class in this crap.

The weld itself wouldn't be stainless steel.

Uh it depends on what type of weld you're making. If you're feeding a line that's not stainless steel, obviously not. If you're doing a tack weld, then yes. You should probably take a class on how to properly weld before you try it, it's pretty tricky and very hard to make a very strong and durable weld look halfway decent.

Wow simple answer is unless you are using stainless wire then no the weld will not be stainless.

BTW it can be treated afterwards if you really need it stainless that badly but is a waste of time and money in the end.

Oh I'm not doing the welding. I'm just trying to educate myself before I go and ask someone to do some welding and I don't want them to just say "oh yea I'd go with a mig weld on that, it'll be fine with that" and that be not what I asked for but don't know cause I ... don't know.

I could use a course under my belt too. I can do basic tack welds, and I've done some arc welding (I suck at arc welding) h:

I've never welded before.

How much are the welding machines, for small projects?

you can usually pick them up at like home depot for a couple hundred bucks, no it would not be stainless steel.
