No, because you feel less stable with high CG and you're more likely to be affected by wind.

SUV's and trucks are only better for when you need to get over or through shit where a car's ground clearance and suspension travel are insufficent. Otherwise even in shitty weather and road conditions cars>trucks.

Anyway, as you probably already know, drive safe man. A lot of the vehicles I've seen off the roads and into embankments have been SUVs. But I'll stop beating that horse. Have fun up there.

Depends on the platform. AWD car-based SUV's are probably the best for this. They offer the stability of a car with AWD. My mom's '05 CR-V is pretty much unstoppable in the snow.
