Default Computer people!

For a 300Gig ATA hard drive, seagate or maxtor? Both have 16MB cache. Maxtor is 150 and Seagate is 160.

I have one Maxtor (30Gb ATA) that's been working since about '01 with no trouble, and I just bought another one (100Gb SATA) that was a snap to install and transfer files over. If you get a Maxtor make sure to get the latest software, version 4 I think.

I don't know anything about Seagate, so I can't help you there.

I run a 250 gig SATA Maxtor, and my bro runs a 200 gig SATA Seagate. I built both computers, and if I were to rebuild mine I would get the seagate. I've just had a few little problems with my maxtor and lots seem to have them. But even if you do aget a maxtor it will more than likely do fine.

My best luck has been with Western Digital, but Segate and Maxtor aren't really BAD. But I just prefer WD. Given the choice, I'd choose WD.

I have several 9.1gb SCSI drives that are Segate, they are quite on the old side, so some going bad after 10 years or so is expected.
