And for the record, I'm a salary/commission paid employee at my day job. I was told that the average pay for my position would be 40k in the first year and 50k average of all the employees and I already passed both of those marks in less than a year. Gates is an exception to the rule...most people who "don't have a degree" didn't willingly drop out of Harvard.

the same old cliches apply, if it's too good to be true, it probably is.. if that were actually the case, everyone would be lining up for the job... etc. hell, who needs a college degree when you can make $70k/yr peddling cellphones?
i'm sure there are exceptions, but seriously, do you think your avg. kid working at the verizon store in the mall is pulling in $40k? i don't.
anyway, not trying to crap all over your thread, just speaking from my experience.

regardless, the base salary is more than i was making at best buy, so that fact alone, and the fact that i wont have to sell ipods, home phones, or other shitty cell carriers is reason enough for me to leave.
i live at home and am a full time student, and im doing okay with the money i make at best buy. selling a product/service that i like, and not having to deal with 'best buy bullshit' as its so affectionately called, on top of the fact that i'll still be making more with just the base salary than i did at best buy makes me happy. if i only make $10k in comission, fine. its not like i live a life that requires me to make that much money. this time next year, if im still working there, i'll report back and let you all know how i did.
anyway, the point to this post was that i got a new job making more money and selling a product that i actually like. thanks to those who congratulated me, and to the nay sayers- maybe you're right. maybe you're not. i guess we'll see.

ps- i AM staying in school full time to get my bachelor's degree, so this is by no means a cop-out to try and make money as a 'career'. im just making more money doing what i already know how to do. so sue me.

and, for the record, cingular scored higher than verizon in only ONE section, and that was 'wireless call quality' in the south west. nextel, of all companies, scored highest here.

Who gives a flying fuck about what company is better? Some people will be on their carrier's nuts, some people will be on their employer's nuts...it goes back and forth. Just give it up already, jesus christ.
