But I try to justify it and i try to make my conscience feel better by telling myself "Ohh.. but stores purposely overcharge so shoplifting won't hurt their profit as bad" but that doesn't help and I realize: God I'm such a douche.

Hi, I wanted to responed to GSR4444 respond in reagrds to his friend shoplifting. case My friend let me start with saying he will have to a pay Taget back plus the civil fee which is $200.00 dollars I myself just got caught there and, the only thing I can say I am sorry for and, that was for getting caught. but I just sent in my payment and, now I will just wait for the court date to come and, that will be more money to pay. I feel since I dont get to keep the item I should not have to pay but if not it will mess with my credit and, that I dont need that. But let your friend know everything will be ok but for taking up the courts times he will have to pay. that too So I feel for myself I had ate they ass up so the fine that I am going to pay it will be for all the shit I got so it"s nothing
One of my good friends was caught shoplifting a $19.99 xbox game from Target a few weeks back. He's never been in any sort of trouble before, and he cooperated with everything and didn't give Target nor the police any problems. He just called me up and told me that he got a "Assets Protection Recovery" charge from Target that says "the amount of this demand is $229.99". How on earth can they fine him that much for a 19.99 item. This isn't even the fine from the court, this is from Target. This doesn't seem right.
