Youre not overpowered...with that amp, youre a little bit underpowered. But you are ok. Just set the gains correctly and you should be fine.

Steroshops in the Bay Area to do what?

To do everything. Installation of everything. And a place that has warentees, and won't likely to go out of buisness anytime soon incase something breaks.

Edit: And how badly am I under powered? Also, what would be a good amp for the single type-r sub? Would this be good?

http://iweb.alpine-usa.com/pls/admn/...=140&p_main=10

But it's mono, so would that be bad?

Another edit: If I got these speakers:

http://iweb.alpine-usa.com/pls/admn/...=104&p_main=10

Without and amp, how badly under powered? And with the amp, dangeriously over powered?

Audiomobile

They mostly handle higher end stuff.

Here, if you want to know whether something will be a good match...look at the amp's RMS wattage rating...and the speaker's RMS wattage rating. Those numbers should be similar.

Dealt with them before, or only heard good things?

And if the RMS from the HU and the RMS from the speakers don't match up, find an amp and add the RMS to that plus the HU's RMS and see if that together reaches around the speakers/sub depending on the situation?

It's just, the HU is 18 and the amp is about 14, but I think the speakers required 50, so aren't I really kind under powered? All assuming What I just said was right.

And thanks again!

One last question...

http://iweb.alpine-usa.com/pls/admn/...=104&p_main=10

If I got the same HU, and the same Alpine amp, would that be too over powered, or just right? And which would you reccomend? Because most likely I'll just get another amp and sub later, and just live with the HU, speakers, and single amp for a while. HU + amp + Type-R or Type-S?

Uhh no. You either use the amp inside the headunit OR use the external amp. You dont use both at the same time for the same speaker.

The amp is 14? What amp offers 14 watts?

Sorry I got it mixed up between the RMS stuff.

So, if I got this...

http://iweb.alpine-usa.com/pls/admn/...=104&p_main=10

and...

http://iweb.alpine-usa.com/pls/admn/...=120&p_main=10

That would be the perfect match because the amp does 40x4 and those speakers are 40RMS?

But then this HU...

http://iweb.alpine-usa.com/pls/admn/...y=45&p_main=10

Does 50x4, so I wouldn't need the amp if I got the Type-S speakers?

And if I got the sub would a mono amp be okay?

Like this one?

http://iweb.alpine-usa.com/pls/admn/...=140&p_main=10

For this sub:

http://iweb.alpine-usa.com/pls/admn/...=150&p_main=10

Or would I need a stronger amp and or stereo one instead of mono?

Thanks again man!

Yes

No. Most internal amps in headunits are OVERRATED. Dont expect more than 20 or so watts from them.

No. That amp is too small. The subwoofer wants 500 watts. Get an amp that is 500 watts RMS. It doesnt matter if the amp is stereo or mono. Being stereo just means that you have the option of controlling 2 separate channels seapartely.

Or can you point out a better amp if I just got the HU and the Type-R's?
