I've got the Pioneer DEH-P6500 in my car and I love it. I don't think they make it anymore, but my vote is definatly for Pioneer

I've had 3 Pioneers die on me. I've given up on that brand.

this is the one I'm running right now, the Alpine CDA-9855

the display is ultra slick, which comes in handy if you're planning on iPod'ing it. Warning, it will take a week or 2 to get used to working this radio. There is a nasty learning curve on how to run it.

The glidetouch is a pain in the ass. If you don't use it everyday, you won't know how to work it. My GF hops in the car and can't get it to work right. I can do it just fine.

This is Alpine's top, non-LCD, headunit. It has so many features on it, you'll have a hard time adjusting the "bass" alone.

ex
You can tune 4 speakers individually. Since you're not sitting in the center of your car, you can actually adjust speakers to "time delay" so the sound will hit all at the same time.

that rotary-push-joystick knob is the dumbest thing Pioneer ever put out. I've used it in my friends' cars and it makes me want to grab the headunit and toss it out the window everytime If you like Pioneer, get the $219 one even though the pre-outs are only 2V. I had a DEH-P850 for 2 years and a 6500 for 2 years before that. Happy with Pioneer so far.

if that little touch-pad-ish thing works the same as the one on the 9855, then it'll be a pain in the ass to use. on the 9855, scrolling through a long list of songs is a huge bitch. you have to keep sliding your finger across the touch pad over and over again in order to keep scrolling - you can't use the wheel for things like that.

You cant lose with the Pioneer and Alpine models at that price range. I prefer the look of the Alpines, but the GlideTouch is :ugh: IMO. But the display onthe 9855 is dreamy. I have the Premier p770. Works great.

(Until I discovered it has a busted internal amp when I sold it h: But I dont use it anyway :happysad: )
