Default Wisdom Teeth Experiences

Anyone have them taken out?

Mine grew in fine but all of a sudden after a dental cleaning one got irritated and is now sore and swelling a bit. It's horribly annoying, the constantly soreness. So i'm told you have to take anti-biotics before they can take it out?

Did you opt for the put-you-to-sleep method at a specialist or the i'mamansoicantakepain pull it out at the dentist route? h:

I'm getting mine done in the next few months. I have no idea what I'm going to do.

For most of my friends it was no big deal but for me it was horrible. I basically took pain medication every day until I passed out because no amount of medication made the pain stop. So I spent a week sleeping in a medicated daze. Then by the beginning of the second week I was starting to feel better. I went back to school and took little or no pain medication. But by the end of the second week I got an infection on both sides of my mouth (even tho I was using the antibiotic mouthwash all the time). Since my gums had already healed over they had to cut thru what had just healed and clean everything out. Needless to say that was as bad as getting them taken out the first time and I spend yet another week in a medicated daze/coma. All in all I was pretty messed up for about a month and the pain was excruciating. But most of my friends had very little or no pain when on medication after the first day and were back to school and fine within a week.

I was awake for mine. It wouldn't have been too bad if they hadn't forgotten to anesthetize the left side of my face It hurt like a bitch when they cut in with the scalpel :wtc:

Anyways, my teeth had not come out yet, so what they did was cut open my gums and split each tooth into 4 sections, then pulled out each section. Afterwards the pain was not bad, other than the case of dry socket. I only took codeine one day.

my top ones grew out sides of my jaw no room, the bottom one were impacted.. i had all 4 removed and i was put under.. had no complications at all. just bruising on my face.. no antibiotics to take. a friend had a dry socket that was nasty to treat.. id opt to be put under. u dont know how deep some of those roots r and it can take alot of effort to get some teeth out and the bleeding can be extensive if the roots r really deep or wrapped around the roots of other teeth.. the molars have more then one root each and can go pretty deeply into the jaw.. took like 20mins tops for mine to be removed..
