Default HondaReliableNO MORE?

The new Honda Civic 2006 is being recalled for pedals not being assembled properly? What? Honda is spiking performance of Hybrid accord/civic and it's noisy? I grew up with the Honda plant less than 3 miles away from where I live since they built the plant. My mom has owned 4 hondas. I feel that they are overrated/overpriced/overbought and under styled, under generous at the dealerships and worse no longer a leader. The competitors have aimed a target slightly above the accord / civic and it shows. The Honda was a standout when everyone made crap. That isnt the case anymore.. so why would any one purchase just a reliable car when other better or slightly different are available..especially when the new civic has a recall like a bad acceleration pedal! The styling is wierd and the buttons are wierd too>and professional reviewers are stating that. Will this improve the attitude of greedy and rude Honda dealers? I doubt it.. they think they are still the gold standard. I am confused, isnt the Parent of Honda still in Japan? I thought we had a world war and dropped 2 nuclear bombs there.. and yet people buy them with all this. The Japanese never opened thier market to American Cars..yet we did. Stop the scam. Also Honda abandoned the tuner group.. but americans are going great their. If it is reliability, then your day is over.. everyone else has caught up: Friendlier nicer and cheaper.. you used to be .. but now?

Ya, heard about the Civic recall. Although I couldn't consider the older Honda's shit. They were standouts, yes, but ask any Honda owner of the previous few generations, particularly in the 90's, and you'll get an almost overwelming vote of approval for Honda being a leader in quality and reliablity back then. Though I do gotta say, the newer Honda's have had some issues, and their 3 newest cars - Accord, Ridgeline, Civic - I am not pleased with styling wise (For the Accord, I don't mind the coupe, but I cannot stand the rear end of the sedan! As for the other two... I can't stand either of them period!)

Older Honda's=the best.
Newer Honda's=Good, but not necessarily the best.

Well, not necessarily. Quality-wise, Chevy (depending on the vehicle and engine), Buick, and Cadillac are among the top brands sold in America.

Unfortunately, Honda isn't the standout anymore. They've sunk to average quality. And it seems like the media table has turned slightly... although the American brands still get more of the bad attn than Honda, the media has started talking more about Honda's issues then they would have previously.

By the way, Consumer Report wishes everyone to know that the Japanese are still #1 in their rankings, followed closely by the American's, and lastly the Europeans.

They also said no Euro brand bettered any American brand in quality.

I'd love to see Honda to a switch w/ Toyota in quality wise. I've never been a big fan of Toyota, but I really like Honda's.

The increase in problems could have a lot to do with the fact that cars are a-lot more advanced than they were 10-15 yeara ago.. and many of the new gadgets are new technology that hasn't yet had ther bugs worked out. The last two generations of Accord have been the most significant updates in Honda history.

Regarding the recall, most if not all manufacturers have issued recalls at one point or another, and some much more than others. Being that the Civic is all new for 06, it is not unlikely to see a recall. Generally, it can be good thing. Honda has had to issue very few recalls over the years, especially when compared to some other manufacturers.

The older Hondas had recalls too. My 96 had a couple, one of which was for the oil seal and the other was a warranty/recall for the emissions system.

As far as declining quality, I sure as heck don't see it! My 2006 Accord is a much better car than my 96 ever hoped to be... especially in terms of build quality. The materials are of higher quality, fit and finish is better, the chassis is more refined, the body has much better structural rigidity and is overall more substantial and sophisticated.

I have not yet heard of any reliability issues with the either the K24 I4 or the V6 engines.. so no problems there either.

Before I bought my Accords, I tested other cars in their class and price range. The Honda always came out on top. Things were no different with the 2006. While the American competition has greatly improved (and I'll admit, make a few pretty tempting automobiles) the Accord still beats them in quality and refinement.

I've owned a 1981 Honda Civic, 83 Accord, 96 Accord and now the new 06..
and each one has been a significant improvement over the last.

:lmao:

this is pathetic.

it was the first model run ... why is it when the Cavalier is in it's 300th year of the same model production, the steering column is recalled for bursting into flames.
