When religion dictates national politics then it becomes a conflict of interest and gets mighty close to religious intolerance.

Such as if my religion teaches me that I have to eat spaghetti on thursday but national decree is made to outlaw eating spaghetti at all then it opresses my religious beliefs. (just example and extreme I know)

Usually you are more cogent than this. You started this thread, implied that it was an actual quote, and said that the President had gone whacko.

If a person is religious, their sense of "Right and Wrong" is going to be directed by their faith. So are you saying that you would rather have someone who does not have a rudder so to speak? A morally bankrupt individual who would, for example, have sex with an underling, deny it, and then when the threat of prosecution had passed, say, "I did it because I could."

You must not have given a lot of thought to illustrating your point.

So are political threads okay now, or is it only if they are initiated by a Left-wing moderator?

Being religious has only some bearing on a persons disretion between right and wrong. Some of the most corrupt people in the world are very religious (take priests with little boys as an example).

Religious fervor does not mean you are any better at discretionary decisions than one who is less religious in the least.

religion is the biggest waste of time, anybody who says he needs religion, god or faith to live is a weak person.
