Default College and such...im screwed.....

So if I dident go to college right after highschool whats my shots of getting back in? I think I want to go to a prep school then go. My SATs are just about average and my GPA will be 2.8 could be higher if I do really good next year. So whats my options? Im worried on where I want to go and who will accept me. If I do really good on my SATs the 2nd time do you think that will help a lot as far as getting into college? Im just starting to freak out as I have one more year left and I have to start applying soon. I mean are there any schools that accept a GPA close to mine?

Just asking for a lil help.

Jon

Oh it's not the end of the world. Why don't you look into what the community colleges in your area offer in terms of transfer agreements with colleges? Mine has them with colleges throughout NYS. You'll be ok.

And that GPA isn't even that bad. Score above a 1000 and you should be able to get into a state school no problem...

Get into college, stay focused and finish. Try your best to finish within 5 years. If you're worried about high school grades, you can always go to community college. After 60 hours of classes, your old GPA and SAT scores erase themselves. Apply as a transfer student to any school you want. Just be sure the classes you're taking at CC are worth something towards a university you're interested in.

Whatever you do ... DON'T FALL INTO THE RETAIL HOLE. No offense to anyone here, but that happened to me. I went to community college right after high school. I realized I DIDN'T have to go to class and started to put more effort into my crap mall job. I wasted 4 years making decent money, but working retarded hours. I got my ass back in gear and finished college by the age of 25. Unfortunately, at the age of 22, I transfered into a 4 year university with only 35 usable credits ... I had 60 in CC, but didn't really pay attention to what I was taking.

I agree. I got sucked into community college and later into a full time job since I had to move out and get my own place. I tried doing school and work, but school got the short end of the stick. I'm finally going back this Fall and have about a year & 1/2 left to finish. If I had to do it again, I would have gotten into any college that would've taken me. I did learn a lot by being independent, but school should have been first.

Go to PCC for a year or two, then transfer.

That is the worst feeling ... high school buddies that graduate way before you. Then you're stuck taking classes when all these younger kids and feel a bit outta place.
