yes but deliberately goung out of your way to undermine your own government, especially in a time of war puts the troops that you say you want to come home so bad in greater harm and IS in fact treason.

unfortunately the fat rats in congress are too worried about reelection to effectively do their jobs. instead they're bent on mindless bickering while this once great nation of ours disintegrates. that, if you ask me, is the highest form of treason.

Oh please. Have you even read it?

Here, I'll give you a little primer.

Whoever knowingly or willfully advocates, abets, advises, or teaches the duty, necessity, desirability, or propriety of overthrowing or destroying the government of the United States or the government of any State, Territory, District or Possession thereof, or the government of any political subdivision therein, by force or violence, or by the assassination of any officer of any such government; or

Whoever, with intent to cause the overthrow or destruction of any such government, prints, publishes, edits, issues, circulates, sells, distributes, or publicly displays any written or printed matter advocating, advising, or teaching the duty, necessity, desirability, or propriety of overthrowing or destroying any government in the United States by force or violence, or attempts to do so; or

Whoever organizes or helps or attempts to organize any society, group, or assembly of persons who teach, advocate, or encourage the overthrow or destruction of any such government by force or violence; or becomes or is a member of, or affiliates with, any such society, group, or assembly of persons, knowing the purposes thereof--

Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both, and shall be ineligible for employment by the United States or any department or agency thereof, for the five years next following his conviction.

Yeah, Newsweek and the New York Times have really been pushing the "overthrow the American government" articles lately haven't they? Why just last week I think the Times had a "God commands you to assassinate the President" front page piece.

yes, actually i have. it fits. like it or not it fits. 1st section, clear as day

Whoever knowingly or willfully advocates, abets, advises, or teaches the duty, necessity, desirability, or propriety of overthrowing or destroying the government of the United States or the government of any State, Territory, District or Possession thereof, or the government of any political subdivision therein, by force or violence.

newsweek for example published the uncorroborated story about the koran being flushed down the toilet at gitmo. this in turn caused hundreds of thousands in the muslim world to riot and which in turn was and is a blatant attempt to undermine the operations of our troops abroad.

Perhaps you missed the "knowingly or willingly" part.

And I don't think any Muslims in the middle east are trying to overthrow the US government or any part thereof.

hmm.. funny.. they knowingly and willingly published an article based solely on information that couldn't be corroborated....

and you're right to an extent.... they don't want to destroy our government. they want to destroy our way of life. oh wait.. our government and it's basis is a large part of our way of life.

keep grasping at straws.

Untrue. They based an article on a factual item, that a detainee reported to a FBI anterrogator that a Qu'oran had been flushed down a toilet. The record created by that FBI agent is public and you can go read it for yourself.

Vastly different. By that logic if I steal a sucker from a little kid I could be charged with murder because suckers are a part of a little kid's life.

There's been a lot of grumbling of the right about sedition lately, mostly because now they can't convince anyone to ride their little patriotism bandwagon anymore so they're implementing scare tactics. Any charges along these lines would be laughed out of court, you can't limit the freedom of the press to criticise the government.

This is no different from saying "No news agency should have been allowed to report on 9/11, because it could reduce the American people's faith in the government."

Hello, welcome to Soviet Russia. Here's your hat and your vodka.

Didn't they make you take at least one English course in college, he was responding to claims that it was treason.

Sort of like if someone said my ex-wife was a bitch, I pondered it and said, "Bitch...I would characterize her more as a whore."
