Because of a poorly engineered MAF sensor, any throaty, V8 Mustang that rev's on an Evo at a red light will cause it to stall. If you know anyone with an Evo, have them start the car and pop the hood. Shake the airbox and you'll stall the engine. Oh the wonders of Mitsubishi engineering.

The DSM plant was good for Mitsubishi. Not only did it produce a popular car, it was done here in the US keeping importing and distribution costs low.

It's that orangey / red they keep showing off that's not cool. The car looks pretty decent in silver.

So that was what allowed them to sell it for 25K.

I did know that about the MAF in the Evo. I'm going to do that next time I see an Evo owner with thier hood open. :chuckles:

I remember the first time I saw an Eclipse. The fist generation... it was silver or grey and I remember thinking how different it looked. Few other cars had areodynamic lines at that time.

Sorry... just thought I would share. h:

The 2nd gen Eclipse came out in the Fall of 1994. You could get a GSX (AWD-T) for $23,500. That price pretty much stayed the same though 1999. You also have to remember that you had some other options at the time ... Supra's were 30K and RX-7's were 29K ... so any bit more Mitsu got closer to the upper 20's, they needed a really really good reason.

My brother has a 1998 GSX with 30K on the odomoter. It's a total garage princess. (don't mind the pic quality, these images are 6 years old)

Here is the AWD diagram for the DSM. I just thought it would go well with this thread.

Oh man, I just can't help it... I know... Holy old thread batman...

This is a viscous coupling eliminator. It replaces the viscous coupling and splines the front and rear driveshafts together creating a true 4X4 configuration. 5 minute install with air tools and you shave .1 seconds off your 60' time. 'bout $100.

I just figured it goes really well with the diagram of the Viscous Coupling in this thread. The 4g63 and 4g64-powered DSMs are the only tuner cars that Mitsubishi has ever made.
