Deleting Windows Update Files?
My computer has been set to automatically download Windows Updates, but waits for permission to install them. My drive kept running out of space and I couldn't figure out why.
I freed up a bunch of space, then Windows downloaded all it's crap and filled it up again, I changed my preference, to only download when I tell it too, but I still need to clear up that space.
Does anyone have an idea where the files go or how I could rid of them?
TIA

2) Go into the C:\Documents and Settings\<your_user_name>\Local Settings\Temp folder and blow everything away (don't delete the folder, just the files in it). That folder tends to clog up over time. I emptied one last week that had over 30,000 items in it, and the user couldn't understand why, with plenty of disk space, the computer had slowed to a crawl. Don't worry about losing something you might need. Windows will re-create anything it needs to in that folder.

Turn off system restore as that can eat a lot of disk space and if you have norton anti-virus installed (boo-urns install Avast) it'll have a "Protected Recycle Bin" that you can't see and it can take upwards of 4-6 gigs of space easily!

The updates weren't in the WindowsUpdate folder
.Also, looking in the Temp folder I know it takes up a ton of space, but some of the files are accessed daily.
Spanky, why you say bs? Can I not delete those?
