i did a bit of reading on platies. is it okay to have just a pair of males in a tank? something i was reading said i should have 2-3 males and twice as many females?

is that only for if i want them to breed? i dont have room for that h:

i had betas w/ pictus catfish w/ no problems...added in angel fish, and one of the angel fish killed everyone. he's bigger than a CD now...was the size of a quarter 2 years ago and he has his own tank!

btw, betas have kinda short life spans, so don't feel bad if he doesnt make it.....they either live forever, or not so long...seems to be no middle ground

doesn't sound bad to me. Personally, i loved seeing the pictus cats w/ the beta, and they kept the tank clean....they are very active too. i'd go w/ 2 pictus cats, the beta and a few of what he said in a 20 gal tank if you can afford it, if not, 10 gals are under $10...get one til they grow up/save. mid sized tanks seem to be very pricey....the 10/20/50 seem reasonable compared to mid sizes.

well, right now im limited to the 12gal tank due to the area i have for a tank.

im reading that pictus cats need a larger tank than that. would i be better off with the otocinclus that supapoopa suggested? i read that its good to have one of them per 10 gallons.
