Some usefull info if you are in the merger/breakup.

NOTE: This still has to go through many many levels of approval. But if everyone approves it, this is what is most likely to happen. We won't know for sure for maybe upwards of another year.

I hate Adelphia. When we first moved in and got our cable internet and digital cable, it would go completely out 2 or 3 times per day. We called and complained so many times that they gave us credits toward our bill...that's how bad it was. We've had trouble with internet speeds constantly. It becomes like a 56k modem at best sometimes...trouble loading pages, 25k/sec download speeds, and dropped connections a few times a day. Not to mention the techs would blame the problem on our router, but with a PC directly connected to the modem, the same things happened.

At our old house we had Time Warner, and never had problems with speed or connections being lost.

I work for Time Warner Cable in Los Angeles

From what I understand we will be taking over the majority of the Los Angeles area if not all. Of course the consumer won't see any tangible results for at least a year or two. I've had services with Adelphia and TWC over the years, and I have to say I haven't had problems with neither companies. It really depends on your area if you believe it. Certain systems are built somewhat bullet-proof and maintained very well so the customer will rarely experience outages. Then there are those areas where major rebuild needs to be done so services will suck.

I do pay for my services to TWC since I gave up my free account to my parent. As a consumer, I think that what I am paying for is reasonable. We split the cable bill between all of us so I end up paying about $35 a month. I mainly use the cable modem and my room mates are more of CATV watchers....so it all ends well.

Anyway, as an employee I am looking forward to the changes up ahead. This merger means MAJOR opportunities for people.....
