when you get to NY, you have to apply for your permit.
same goes if say your grandfather owns sidearms and passes, in order for you to inherit the guns, you have to be a licensed gunowner.
on a strange other hand, you can walk into wal-mart and within an hour, walkout with a longarm :eh: only thing is, they walk you to the front door so you dont do anything crazy on the way out. but you can come back in and go nuts. weird shiet, huh?

With that being said, the permit laws here are a bitch, and the carrying ones are even worse. Unless you are an active/retired LEO or military, or can provide really good reason that you need to carry, forget about it. It might be a little less harsh upstate, but down here its pretty rough.

Gun peeps. I'm looking into buying a handgun soon, and there's a police officer/gun nut selling a couple from his collection. One's an old Browning 9mm, the other's a Walther (PPK or P99, not sure) 9mm. Both are in great condition. You guys think these are pretty good guns?
