They were much cooler when they were new and had better graphics/games than PCs. Currently PC games blow consoles out of the water. It should be cool when the PS3/XBox 2 come out, as they should once again have killer graphics and games, at least for the first year or so.
I'm a mac user, and even though I like PC console game, I cannot justify the cost that I would spend on such a system (I would get the most balls-to-the-wall system possible h: )

Quality > Quantity
Ace Combat 5
Armored Core Nexus
Disgaea
Phantom Brave
Gran Turismo 4
GTA: San Andreas
Street Fighter Ann. Collection
Virtua Figher 4: Evolution
Rez
Katamari Damacy
Final Fantasy series (mostly)
Onimusha 3
MGS 3
Tekken 5
Xenosaga series
Amplitude/Frequency
Castlevania: LOI
Devil May Cry 3
R-Type Final
Ratchet and Clank
Jak

Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head, but that's certainly not a small list, considering that I covered about half of the PS2-exclusive games I consider worthwhile

to my knowledge, they haven't actually made any formal announcements about the hardware specifics in their next console (revolution), but IBM/ATI insiders have "suggested" that the core would either be the same or very similar to that of xbox2. in other words, it'll probably be a big improvement over the gc.

the design of the game cube (the fact that it's more like a cube than a VCR) has nothing to do with it's build quality :slap: besides, it is always sony that has quality control issues with all of their initial console releases. nintendo is usually top notch in terms of build quality and reliability. the gamecube is also pretty small.. how friggin small is your house, that you can't put it anywhere? :eh: personally, i think it's really cool that they did something different, because obviously no one else was going to

not that i expect you to care, but there's a little bit of heritage in the design as well. the original famicom (asia, not US) is almost exactly the same width. stack it on top of the disk drive accessory, and it's almost exactly the same height.

yes it does.. the quality of the external design SUCKS its a cube that doesnt really fit in an entertainment center and since it is taller and has a flip up lid it doesnt fit nicely in an undercabinet with shelves

:stupid: you're critiquing its industrial design, not its build quality, numbnuts. :slap:

build quality = does it break often? does it function well?

build quality != (not equal to) "this thing SUCKS! i don't know where to put it because *obviously* the only two places i'm allowed to put it are in an entertainment center or cabinet with shelves"

wtf?! you say the xbox controller is better than the ps2 controller in ergonomics? wow you must have the hands of a bear or something because that controller is insanely huge and i have pretty long fingers. BTW: you keep pointing out HALO as xbox's game...but halo royally sux'd in comparison to every first person shooter i have ever played. It's below par to what a FPS should be. But hey to each his own if you want to make halo the flagship of the xbox so be it because that's all i saw was possibly good with the xbox because every other game went to both consoles for the most part.

as much as i agree with you, many do see halo as xbox's "flagship" game. it's a huge seller and insanely popular. multiplayer certainly helps a lot.. without halo, where would xbox be? that being said, as a huge fan of FPS's in general, i just don't think they are right for consoles to begin with. people can get real good at them, and you can still have fun playing them, sure, but controlling a game like an FPS with a console controller is kind of unintuitive and awkward. PCs suit them much better.

xbox right now is what ps1 was

it has alot of games that are all over the place, only a few things it can put its name on, and only 2-3 exclusives that make an A effort

halo and rallisport alone match up to what final fantasy and granturismo were for the orignal playstation, i think that is enought o propell it into the next generation

actually, you did. "quality construction", which are the words you initially used, refers to the how something was built (or literally, "To form by assembling or combining parts; build."), not how it was designed ("The purposeful or inventive arrangement of parts or details: the aerodynamic design of an automobile; furniture of simple but elegant design."). as such, your wording is improper, misleading and unclear. i was simply attempting to clear you up on the subject. apparently it still didn't work. but if you want to keep using english words and phrases entirely incorrectly, whatever floats your boat, dude
