I'd stick with it if you invested that much.

But thats simply IMHO. Thats a lot of cash to be handin out...and considering the technology offered, looks to me that you want/need something that doesn't exist. BTW, you takin Pro Sport shots?
I freelance for an off road mag and do some shots for local outfits here and there as well as some band shots I have just picked up. Only time I use a tripod is if I go out night shooting.

The 1d mkII averages $4k or so but I can line up a used one for around $2500 and I will keep my 10d as my backup camera just in case anything happens while in the field.

BTW, 8.3...and if memory serves correct it's 8.1 for the 20D, is still less grainy then traditional.

with all that...and Im simply f'n with you...I hope...or I'd be simply jealous, your takin shot's of Dorsey Levens makin a end zone catch at the super bowl and using it for a f'n bill board. I'n quite anal about quality but christ

Take a look in the photo forum for some of my recent shots.

what lenses are you using? and BTW, you are prolly as anal as myself which will keep you above the rest. Im no pro...and I'm guessin you are itchin on it, but detail is the key to standing above the rest.

I hope you don't think I'm judging or comparing...just mearly stating whats a reasonable budget.

Nah I understand your line of reasoning completely. Unfortunatley my level of use has changed from recreational hobby to paid work which means a bit more investment in equipment.

My glass list currently:

Canon f1.8 50mm
Canon f4.5-5.6 70-200mm (soon to be replaced with an L glass lense of same focal lenght)
Sigma f2.8-4 17-35mm wideangle (soon to be replaced with same type faster)

They do fine for me know but the lens speed is starting to become an issue so new lenses first then a new body is on the way.
