But thats simply IMHO. Thats a lot of cash to be handin out...and considering the technology offered, looks to me that you want/need something that doesn't exist. BTW, you takin Pro Sport shots?
I freelance for an off road mag and do some shots for local outfits here and there as well as some band shots I have just picked up. Only time I use a tripod is if I go out night shooting.
The 1d mkII averages $4k or so but I can line up a used one for around $2500 and I will keep my 10d as my backup camera just in case anything happens while in the field.
