and I always thought you'd stick to traditional. I can't knock it...I can't complain with the capabilities of the Canon EOS 20D my company provides me. It does what I want and the results are amazing. What cam? what Lenses? We tossed the consumer end and I've been using a macro and a ultra zoom along with an advanced zoom that can get detail imaging from a few hundered feet away without unsharpening

I am shooting a 10d right now and getting ready to pick up a 1D markII by summer.

I wanted to stay traditional but its just not in the cards really. For the magazine I have to have the ability to shoot, then upload them when I get back to the hotel with minimal lag time. Besides development fees are a killer anymore.

the EOS? excellent investment. But be wairy of abuse on the electronic sensors "the gold sensors that electronically connect the lenses or batteries to the bod". I prolly put in close to 500 hours of use on it and changed lenses/batteries uncountable times. They wear and a malfunctioning chip takes the end abuse...thus the investment in a second....the 20 D. But I still stay faithfull. You don't sell a classic cause the carb clogged.

...unfamiliar with the 1D

1D mkII is the next one up from the 10 and 20d. It affords me the smae options but better frame rate buffer, better metering and a more durable body. If I don't find one for a reasonable price I may just shell out for one of the new full frame sensor models they have since the price is not too much more than what I am looking at anyways...about a $1k difference give or take.

bah...I say keep it and invest in lenses. You've got the 10, keep it for a few years and spend your cash on things that can expand your hobby. It's like PC's...by the time they ship your new shell, they've got a better one on the market.

....get a macro. You will NOT regret it.

I have no use for a macro really. For work I actually only shoot with three lenses:

50mm
70-200mm
17-35mm wideangle

Aside from those I really don't need any other lenses unless I get faster versions of the same ones I have.

What I do need is a faster framerate (3fps up to 9 frames isn't enough for me) and the higher image quality of the 8.3 meg camera. The 10d does fine but I have found it limiting in some really odd and crucial situations.

With that response, I take it, you don't use, or lack of terms "have time" for a tripod. understandable. However, I still don't think you'll be satisified with the next upgrade after spending...im gonna guess $1400....for slightly less "softness" of your shot. I'd stick with it if you invested that much.

But thats simply IMHO. Thats a lot of cash to be handin out...and considering the technology offered, looks to me that you want/need something that doesn't exist. BTW, you takin Pro Sport shots?
