I think it does. Traditionally, if someone asks for you to leave their property, one leaves. That is in the USA. We understand what property is. Back where the Hmong live, there wasnt property like that. There probably was no such thing as claiming land of your own without doing something obvious like building a fence around it. So what if the guy didnt understand why he was asked to leave. And Hmong men store a lot of pride...what if he was thinking that this group of people was threatning him, or for a lack of a better word, punking him. He would stand for something like that. But again, I am no expert. None of us was there to first hand see what occured. And I am not trying to justify what he did.

And this article being about a Hmong man, we have to realize what type of people these Hmong are. They are generally VERY recent refugees, and arent the type of people that easily assimulate to American cultures, meaning they are still hold a very strong sense of identity and pride. So strong, that I guess being told what to do, he had to retaliate.

But I am not trying to justify the incident. What he did was not right.
Yep, Faderman did some great work. Since reading her work, I have a great deal of respect for Hmong people. :usa:

My sources say 1956. h:

Thanks for the facts, it got me into researching about both now.

The suspect's side of the story's leaking out, now.

He says that somebody fired at him as he was walking away.

He also says that they were using racially derogatory language when they confronted him.

Wow... Who would have thunk it.

Oh and spanky. I apologise for the sterotype. I know not all hunters are white phatties, but are there alot of black and hispanic hunters out there all dressed in orange? I wasn't aware of that, but regardless. My bad spanky.
