So what? Wallace did something that happens in pro sports almost daily...start shoving matches when someone gets upset. Yes, he started the brawl on the court. To say that he was responsible for the entire riot is insane. What do fans do at sports games? Drink...and drink lots. They should know better than to throw shit at some of the best athletes in the world who are in tip top shape, and whose adrenaline levels are pumping from being in the heat of the battle. They don't think, they react...which is what most peopld do and would have done in Artest's shoes. While the players *shouldn't* have crossed the line of going into the stands, you can't blame them for doing so. As much as I dislike Artest for his attitued towards the game and other things, he is a very talented player, and he did what anyone else would do. Why punish him/them for natural human reactions? However, David Stern doesn't see it that way. He's going to use Artest/Jackson/O'Neal as scapegoats and make them an example so no player goes into the stands ever again. Artest faces a possible 30 game suspension (at least he could promote his rap album like he wanted ), O'Neal and Jackson face 20. Hell, they might even restrict alcohol sales late in games like other sports. I hope the fans are punished to the full extent of the law for their shenanigans in starting that huge brawl. The FANS are to blame for that, not the players.

 

i didnt attempt to show it as evidence proving that wallace is 100% at fault. I know he wasnt but he was partially to blame while some people think he was totally innocent.
but yes the players are the ones who are going to suffer, taking the 3 best players on Indiana a upper level team, and suspending them for 15+ games each i assume is totally wrong and doing nothing but hurting the league and helping Detroit

Detroit's only real competition in the Eastern Conference was Indiana and this will effectively make Indiana on par Skill wise with the Charlotte Bobcats

Wallace did start it, he may have not been responsible for the whole melee, but his actions did cause the brawl.

 

Artest has been suspended for the rest of the season. Jackson got 30 games, O'Neal got 25, Wallace got 6. A few other people got smaller suspensions.

All you people that say it's not these guys' fault for lashing out at the fans are a bunch of idiots. I don't care which team you like, who you thought started it, or any of that. Players can't jump into the stands and hit fans.

 

The NBA as a whole is rediculous. David Stern is a scumbag who has now given fans 100% free reign to do whatever they please. So anyone of us who goes to an NBA game can now throw anything we want on the court of play and expect no reprocussions. Those penalties are absurd.

 

Yeah, they shouldn't react on human nature, they shouldn't be considered as humans.
