that happened to me once
turned out it was this cheap plastic housed heater from target that melted

another time i heard a pop while i was sleeping and smelled something burning after that
it was my old psu

That's probably not what it is though.
thats what i was thinking, but if it's lasted half an hour then probably not.

I've randomly smelt stuff before and didnt know what it was but it eventually went away. :dunno:

I dont' know... but I don't think it would be a problem if you reported it to fire department. They might have better things to do, but if not, I don't see why they would be inconvienced, since you are reporting a potentially dangerous situation. And they should be able to figure out where it is coming from.

i think i've sniffed every corner of my apt its nowhere near my computer i don't think, i've checked the plugs, and my heater's not on. i really have no clue what it is.

no way, they'll come tumbling down in their big firetrucks. plus my apartment is a mess.

my mom did that once, our dishwasher was smoking. 3 firetrucks come only to find out that it was just a plastic spoon that had melted.

check lamp fixtures. i decided to go bright one day and switched a walmart brand 40w bulb with a sylvania 3 stage 100w ... i melted my lamp to the bulb.
