the worst gasoline will do is fade your clearcoat a little...but that's from prolonged and repeated exposure.

Wow there's a new term I've never heard of. "fading clearcoat"

It won't do much harm if you clean if off. This is in my experience, and my car is uhm, very well waxed I guess you could say.

I should've said "dull" your clearcoat.
it happens. I had to remove spraypaint from a car once, we decided to use paint thinner....the clearcoat got dull (or faded, same shit), and we just polished it back up.

I've seen signs on pumps here that say "Never leave pump unattended. We are not responsible for spillage." or something like that.

there are signs posted that say you should not GET IN YOUR CAR AFTER U START PUMPING.

even if the trigger fails, there is always the secondard shutoff. you know where you put the pump handle back.
