This is my one and only political thread. I promise it wont happen again. :happysad:

I'm 22 years old, in 00 and 02 i was registered as a democrat... this year I'm unaffiliated. I've always considered myself a democrat (since long before I could vote), but in preparing my cheat-sheet for tomorrow, I realized that locally I'm voting for a number of republicans and libertarians... they're simply more qualified. Overall, I'd consider myself a moderate liberal, but choosing your candidates, referendums and ammendments strictly along party lines is just plain ignorant.

I'm the same way, could give a shit which party they're from. All I care about are the issues they will address and how they will address them.

 

voting across the party line, unless they are all actually qualified in your eyes, is not a good idea and is uninformed voting. i'm voting for a republican tomorrow if i can because he's given a lot of funding to my school.

I voted straight republican. There were a few republicans I didn't like, but the race is close between repub/dem.
I almost voted a few libertarians

 

i can't remember how the local election thing works. when is it that you can only vote for your party? or did someone lie to me about that?

 

thats only for the primaries....

ok thats what i thought, but i wanted to make sure. and god won't save you. give me a break, the first time i voted was the primaries.

 

I know on the absentee ballot you could vote for whomever you wanted to, as long as you knew thier name. Because otherwise you were checking a block for a republican, who was already named on the ballot, for about 75% of the choices. Which seemed a little too easy for the republican side.
Note: this was mainly the case for local elections such as DA, Sheriff, Judges etc.
The big ones were named therein.

 

Unfortunately one of the main campaigning strategies is to misinform, trick, or straight out lie to voters. Combined with the public's natural stoopadity, this practically ensures that nobody will make an informed decision.
