I know on the absentee ballot you could vote for whomever you wanted to, as long as you knew thier name. Because otherwise you were checking a block for a republican, who was already named on the ballot, for about 75% of the choices. Which seemed a little too easy for the republican side.
Note: this was mainly the case for local elections such as DA, Sheriff, Judges etc.
The big ones were named therein.
