Vote or Die
For the umpteenth time. The electoral college means that the country is led by more than just the brain farts of elitist snobs in California, New York, and perhaps Texas (another large state). Without the electoral college system, do you think Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Montana, Nevada, Missouri, Alabama, etcetera would matter to anyone in Washington DC? Yeah right.

i dont see how smaller states matter any less without the electoral college. the amount of electoral votes each state gets is based on the number of people in the state, so the amount of pull the people in each state have on the election is roughly equal. just not exactly equal, which is the way it ought to be.

Also, anybody see the whole controversy about Trey Parker and Matt Stone. They basically said "vote or die" is a crappy campaign because it causes people to make an uninformed decision. But really, it's debatable whether anybody can make a truly informed decision. I would guess more than 90% of the population votes after having only seen the mud slinging commercials and maybe part of the debates.
To me many of the people who say "both candidates suck so screw this," are making the uninformed decision.
If someone disagrees with the system which would be more productive for them to do: skip it entirely, or pick the candidate who at the very least shares more of the same ideas?
Personally I would much rather have this country junk the electoral college and work on a parliamentary system with proportional representation and multiple parties. But since that ain't gonna happen any time soon, I vote for the candidates who will at the very least be able to do what in my eyes should be done, within the existing system.
