Thats a valid reason. You are carrying both in the cabin now? I thought it was shotty up front and assault in the trunk?

Ahh, one of my favorite terms... "normal capacity." It's nice of them to let you pre-order.

If I wasn't so poor, I'd have a new gasblock (with bayo lug) and new front site block (with 24mm threads and matching '74 brake) on order for my AK's. Now I just have a Romanian folder waiting to go on the Mk.II (5.45.)

If only I could afford a "pre," or shall I say "post-post" ban AR kit. I'm thinking something like an 11.5" barrel/5" silver soldered flash hider CAR-15 clone. I was forced to sell off all the parts of my last AR build.

I still can't figure out what is with all the AR guys and their 'uber-tactical hyper rail systems' and the crap that goes on them.

I do it because I train tactically.

To be honest although I am far from a gun advocate I do own them and I am very well trained in the ones I own, same with the knives and swords I own. The way I figure it is that it is my every duty to be trained to protect my family and friends when society takes a shit.

The one thing I fear more than death itself is my government.

The departments that I'm in contact with carry both in-cabin yes. Some departments still do 870 in cabin, assault rifle in trunk, but more and more are going to both in cabin.

I like it that way. =]

Maybe I'm to far into the AK mentality. Give me an AK and a four mag pouch and I'm ready to go. CQB time? Fold the stock. Dark outside? Find a place to camp and let the AR guys run around in the night with their flashlights and nightvision optics.

Barrel is too long, aiming is fair for accuracy but far from prime, munitions is the best part being that almost everyone has rounds for it...but the same for the AR as well.

I had an SKS and an AK-47 and wasn't particularly impressed with the action in the bolt at all. I got hangups in the gas return fairly regular resulting in either misfeeds or ejection issues. All on new magazines too.

Fun guns but in time of need I don't trust them completely.

I've never had any problems with my 5.45 AK (the 5.56 is halfway through a conversion) or any of my SKS's. I hope you weren't using aftermarket mags in the SKS, those never work.
