Because the Airport Express has a 10-user DHCP server built into it. It's a mobile LAN.

Geekfest 2004... Network Max Payne/Soldier of Fortune/UT2004 at the coffee shop. Via wireless.

War Driving. If you don't know what that is, I won't explain it.

SCSI

FireWire (which they won an Emmy for setting the IEEE-1394 standard and being the first to develop home DV editing software that rivaled Hollywood production studios)

802.11b wireless

802.11g wireless

a GUI operating system

Apple put these working technologies into their standard hardware line-up before Microsoft ever had drivers for this crap... So... what standards are we talking about here? Fortunately there's enough competition so it trickles down to you within a couple of months, several bloat-ware OS patches and lawsuits later. Competition is good. Every business needs it. It makes all of them better.

didnt' HP just adopt some apple stuff to their lineup now? :chuckles:

Well actually Jobs and 'The Woz' took the idea for GUI and a mouse from Xerox. They freely admited that many times.

Now the b and g wireless, I don't know how much of a role apple actually had in that, because you can look on the IEEE site and the contributors to those standards, I don't see apple listed anywhere.

And if I recall back... I think Unisys had the first USB prototype.
