sweet, man. Thanks for the info/help. I'm kind of wierd about writing, I hate using pens and pencils, but everything just comes out when I am using keyboard. It's wierd. But the laptop would be nice since I can take it with me to places to just hang out and type away.

whelp, I'll look into this some more, see what the budget says. I just got a second job, so I'll pretty much double my monthly income. I'll see what'll work best for me, maybe mess around with my dad's laptop, to see how I like it.

If you think you're gonna want to take your computer with you somewhere and use it, then get a laptop. Otherwise, a PC makes more sense...more power for less money, no shitty laptop keyboard and touchpad, better monitor, etc.
I personally only use my PC at home, and don't need it anywhere else, that's why I prefer a PC.

check www.pctorque.com and browse their forums, sager notebooks will video edit with the best of them since they use desktop chips but keep in mind your battery life is like an hour at best because of this. notebooks have come a long way in the past several years.

eh I wouldn't get a laptop unless you really really need the mobility.

I have two laptops and 3 pcs. I use the PC 95% of the time when at home and only use the laptop when i'm away from home.

Plus lugging a laptop around is no fun. Regardless of what you're going to use it for, if you're going to be using it at home 75% of the time I would just stick with a desktop. Don't cheat yourself by saying you would use it for this and that :blah: :blah: when you know you might use it once for that purpose.

I'll still be looking into this. That's my thing, I do need my own computer for school/business, etc.. I'll actually be needing to work off of my computer for a business within the month.

I could just get a nice pc now, then get a simple laptop for writing later. :dunno:

I'm conflused h:

I'd have to agree.

Unless you really need to always work on the go, there's no need for a laptop. For me, it's one more thing to worry about losing/getting stolen. Besides the fact 95% of the people I know that use laptop's keep them at home :squint:

id suggest a toshiba labtop that costs under 2k
as for the processor pentium 4 has more power but pentium mobiles last long unplugged

where are you going that you worry about theft?
i lug my labtop to school where i know most of the students (small campus) and i never ever leave it completely unattended or unlocked
i also bring it to friends houses where i need to use it or do work
ill bring it to work when the weather is good and i need to get to class after work
